El término “evangelio” proviene del idioma griego (εὐαγγέλιον eu-angelion), que quiere decir originalmente “pago por la entrega de una buena noticia”, o resumido: “una buena noticia” o más concretamente “un mensaje de victoria”. El grupo de palabras en torno al término evangelio es hasta nuestros días de uso extendido en el contexto de las iglesias: (evangélico/a, evangelismo, etc.) y desde las épocas del cristianismo primitivo forma parte del vocabulario cristiano básico, más allá de ser un préstamo del griego.
